I am looking for any information pertaining to any Pulchers and Poirots in the Alsace area. In particular, I am researching my family line of Jean Baptiste Pulcher and Anne Marie Didiez. The following is the information that I know. A passport was issued to Jean Baptiste Pulcher, Anne Marie (Didiez) Pulcher and their 5 children on June 15, 1853 in Colmar, Haut Rhin (Upper Rhine). The passport also states that they were natives of Chaux, a suburb of Giromagny, and that they were farmers. The children's names were Jean Claude, Jean Baptiste, Celestine, Xavier, and Georges. It has also been learned that they Americanized their names when they arrived in the United States. The family came to Cahokia, IL first by way of New York and finally settled in Murphysboro, IL. I am intersted in finding information about all of these children. I am descended from Xavier Pulcher. His name was changed to Franklin. He married Louise Poirot. I was told that they arrived in the United States on the same ship. Here are some dates that I have. Anne Marie Didiez born 25 Jan 1807, died 25 Feb 1877. Jean Baptiste Pulcher (son) died in 1874. Jean Claude was born 25 May 1832 in Chaux and died 6 Oct 1900 (name changed to John). Celestine was born 18 Jul 1839 in Chaux and died 29 Apr 1902. Xavier (Franklin) was born 26 Jan 1842 in Alsace and died 16 Oct 1908. Louise Poirot was born 26 Aug 1852 in Alsace and died 3 Feb 1938. Georges (George) was born 31 May 1844 in Chaux and died 16 Apr 1916. I would appreciate any help. Thank you!

Dear Carolynn, I have done some research on a Pulcher family in Chaux. There is a Jean Baptiste who could be yours. Contact me - angela.robinson@wanadoo.fr

Hi Carolynn, Louise Poirot was my grandfather's twin sister. I have the Pulcher family tree. How can I help you. Betty from Kentucky

Betty, I have just started looking for Pulcher family tree information. My husband is Paul Pulcher, son of Paul Arthur Pulcher whose family was Eugene Pulcher of Audubon, PA. I noticed you mentioned a family tree for the Pulchers - could I possibly get a peek at the information?

Angela, I believe I know who Jean Baptiste is. My husband's great-great-great- grandfather. I believe he came to America in 1853? I sent you a direct email.

Carolynn, My husband Paul is descendant from George and Nora Pulcher, brother of Frank. George and Nora had Camille who married Ella Sorrels, they had a son Eugene (my husband's grandfather.
Were you able to learn more about Jean Baptiste and Anne Marie Didiez? I found the translation of the passport in material at Eugene and Ella Pulcher's home (she died in January 2002) and my husband is the executor of the estate....

WOW! I am Eugene & Ella's great granddaughter! I used to spend many a summer at their house with my aunt Jen. I don't know much about our family beyond my great grandparents so I wouldn't be much help about our past.

Dorothy, Carolynn, Are either of you still active on Ancestry? I am trying to do further research on my mother's side of the family; her maiden name is Pulcher. Her great grandfather is Clarence, son of Camille and Ella. I have a copy of the Pulcher family tree tracing back to 12 generations leading to France, but it appears to be a different line other than Pulcher.
My grandfather, Clarence Earl Pulcher Jr. (deceased in 83) swore we had Native American Indian in our history as well, but I haven't been able to find any of this information...
Would love to learn more about my mother's side of the family...
