Bonjour!
I descend from a Frenchman who came to America, as many Frenchmen did, at the beginning of the American Revolution.
He introduced himself to the Continental Congress and the Board of War via a "Memorial" identifying himself as "CHAMBARON, Chevalier d' Antignac," a member of the King's Musketeers. His full name was Louis Jean Baptist Chambaron d'Antignac born Aug 18, 1748 in France, possibly in Auvergne. After serving in the American Continental Army based in Virginia, he moved first to South Carolina and finally to Richmond County, GA.
I have been unable to find information on him prior to his arrival in America in 1777.
I would love to hear from anyone who may have additional information and/or who have come across my grandfather in your research or via family lore
Thank you for your time and assistance,
Yours truly,
Brenda Austin Mason
Fifth generation great-granddaughter of Jean/John Chambaron D'Antignac
