Hello! My name is David Smekens. I live in Indianapolis Indiana in the USA. My grandfather and great grandparents immigrated to the United States from Belgium. My great grandfather's name was Hubert Smekens. He came to the USA in 1909. I believe that he was from a city called Bracken. My great grandmother Henrietta Rose (Van de Leur) Smekens joined my great grandfather in 1910. She was from a city called Capellan. My grandfather immigrated to the US, at the age of 14, in 1919.
