I am searching for any information on the DeRuine family. I am not 100% sure of the spelling. I do believe they originated from Hainaut. Have managed to take family tree back to 1700's in America, unable to obtain further information regarding Druen/Druin/DeRuine/Deruine. Any leads would be appreciated. Please email me at merculady521@aol.com

I am trying to work on my family tree and I am looking for connections to the following:
1. Benjamin Simon Alexis Girard - Belgium Father of Gilbert & Marie Elise.
2. Admandine Ernestine Peschard or Pechard - Belgium - Mother of Gilbert & Marie Elise.
3. Gilbert Girard - Charleroi Belguim - Brother of Marie Elise Girard.
The family migrated to NS sometime early 1900's but returned to Belgium a few years later. They had something to do with wines...farm - grapes or making wine. Elise Marie stayed in NS with her own family.

Any information would be so appreciated...I seem to have hit a dead end. Lin

Looking for Information About My Great Grandparents

My great grandmother, Elizabeth Orlea, was born in Belgium 01 FEB 1858. I believe she was born in Mons or Frameries, Hainaut. She married Louis Duez or Dewey in Belgium; however, I do not know the date or place. They had two daughters, Rosa Catherine, 11 NOV 1876, and Louise, 01 Mar 1880, but I do not know where in Belgium they were born. The family left Antwerp in NOV 1882 on the SS Waesland and arrived in New York on 13 NOV 1882. On the ship with them was their friend, Alfred Joseph Jamotton, also from Belgium. The two men were coalminers. All five people settled in Pocahontas, Virginia, where in 1884, Louis Duez was killed in a mine explosion. In 1885, Elizabeth Orlea Duez married Alfred Joseph Jamotton, and I am descended from this marriage. Where should I try to find birth, marriage, and emmigration records for these people in Belgium?

Our family migrated to New Orleans in the early 1700's.
Have found a note on Ancestry .com that Jean Baptiste Chenet was born in Lodelinsart, Belgium in 1713 and died in Lousiana in 1758. He is married 14 Oct 1735, to Marie Josephine Salmon. Children are: Jean Baptiste Chenet, 1737 in New Orleans, LA, Pierre Chenet, 1739, and Honore Chenet, 1741.

There are also Senet families in Beloeil, Belgium.

HELP, HELP, HELP!

I'm researching my family history from the UK and would love to trace a 'Georges Toussaint' who I believe lived in Hainault in 1918. This man helped my grandfather when he escaped from a POW camp in WW1 and enabled him to return home to England. I have only the address of 'Rue Albert ?31'. If anyone can give any help at all I would be most grateful.

LeClerq / LeClair / Godard

My paternal grandmother was one of the American-born children of Louis Joseph Leclerq (June 1856) and Desire Godard (July, 1856-June 1944). Louis emigrated from Charleroi, Hainaut, via Antwerp to Charleroi, Pennsylvania in 1892, arriving in Philadelphia, Pa. Nov. 18, 1892 aboard the Red Star Line's ship "Switzerland." Desire' and four children, Catherine (Katie, 1881-1969); Julia (1886-1976); August (1888-1967); and Manuel (Emanuel? 1890-1963) remained in Belgium awaiting the birth of their fifth child, Josephine (1893-1919.) Desire' arrived at Philadelphia aboard the Red Star Line's "Illinois," 18 May 1893. The ship's manifest gives their last address in Belgium as Landeleis. Six more children were born after their move to the US - Delphine (1894-1981); Augusta Marie (1896-1993, my grandmother); Joseph (1898-1987); Victoria (1900-1993); Arthur (1901-1987); Paul (1903-1987). I would appreciate any information anyone can provide about the family in Belgium, especially about the parents and any siblings of both Louis (who was called Joseph) and Desire'. Oral history of the family (here in the States) has it that there is also a family connection to a now defunct silk maker or trader in the Hainaut area, though I don't whether his or hers, if that information could be useful in identifying the proper lineage. Thank you, anyone and everyone, for any assistance you can offer.

CHARLIER, his father Jules Charlier, his father Alexis Charlier and his father Henry Joseph Charlier (born Nov. 9, 1792 in Jumet) are all from that area. Is your family related? I need to know how to research better from my home in U.S. to find lines dating back farther. I am interested in contacting Yvon Orban as our families intersect. I am still researching Nicholas EGBERT (born Oct. 1842) & Philomena (LEROY) Egbert (born Jan. 1849). Their children were Emma Egbert (born Aug. 1869), Lena Egbert, Isadore Egbert (born about 1876), Flomey Egbert, Helen Egbert, and Jules Egbert. Any leads will be very helpful. Many thanks to the folks that have been so supportive and helpful. Please contact me at: robby22152@yahoo.com

LeClair / Gadour / Cusselbeau?

My great-grandfather Louis Joseph LeClair and his wife Desiree Gadour LeClair emigrated to Charleroi, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. from Charleroi, Hainault, Belgium sometime between the birth of their daughter Josephine in 1891 and their daughter Dolphine in 1894. Their other Belgian-born children were Catherine (1881), Julia (1886), August (1888), and Manuel (1890.) The family was related to the Cusselbeau family who owned a silk business in Belgium, but I don't know where. Any information about any of these families would be greatly appreciated.

1570 family deRochemont

Hi I am reseaching my family that orginated from what was once Tournay, French Flanders. I have a booklet from a gathering of the deRochemont family in Aug. 1866, which honors those that came before.

From the booklet it states "that nothing but home-tradition fixes the existence at the time of the religious troubles in France, in 1750, which fact argue its previous existence."

"they were a Catholic family, and noble, as indicated by the prefix "de" which localizes the name. The Barons of Rocky Mountain, were undoubtedly a very respectable people;and though the title Baron has not attended the branch of the family that found its way to this country, barrenness has not been one of its failings".

It states that "the family seceded from the Catholic religion and became a Huguenot minister." "At the time of the massacre & when the religious climate in France became too warm to be agreeable-not wishing to be a cold chop or a broil- he left his home and went to French, Flanders, now Belgium for security." I have a birth of Maximillian John deRochemont our first immigrant to America born: Tournay, French Flanders, September 24, 1781. Where can I find information on this family? I'd grately appreciate any help & thank anyone who can be of any help.

I am searching for information about the families of my grandparents. My paternal grandmother was Augusta Marie LeClair, a daughter of Louis Joseph LeClair and Desiree Gadour, who immigrated to Charleroi, Pennsylvania, United States from Charleroi, Hainault, Belgium sometime between the birth of their daughter, Josephine in August 1891 in Belgium, and 1894, when their daughter Dolphine was born in Pennsylvania. Other children born in Belgium were Catherine (1883), Julia (1886), Arthur (1887?), August (1888) and Manuel (1890). My grandmother used to tell us about her grandmother, who still lived in Belgium, being killed during World War I at the age of 116. I believe her name to have been Josephine Goddard Gadour? My grandmother said that when her grandmother died, the King and Queen attended her funeral, and that she had been the oldest woman in Belgium at the time.

Looking for info on my great grandmother Augusta Victoria DeBille born March 24, 1900 in Strepy-Bracquegies (Charleoi).
A sister also born the same place Marie Louisa DeBille, born 07/06/1898. Also had another sister Juliette born 1902 (place unknown).Parents Joseph DeBille and Ferdinande Augustine Mayaur/Mayeux.
The father, Juliette and Augusta left around 1908/1909 and headed for Canada. The mother had to stay behind because she had an open sore and was not permitted to board the ship. Louisa stayed behind to look after the mother who was pregnant at the time.
Augusta Victoria went on to marry on Oct.23, 1923 in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada. She married Louis Buncholl/Bodechon. Louis died in March 15, 1967 in Minto, New Brunswick Canada. His death certificate states he was born in Belgium (suspect Liege) on Oct. 21, 1895. Parents Louis Bodechon (born France) and Josephine Petrie (born Belgium).
Louis Jr. was to believe to of left Belgium around 1913. Family story has it he left a wife and six kids in Belgium. My grandmother remembers the kids writing to him in Minto, New Brunswick Canada. He was possibly wanted by the law. He had a half brother named Gustaf Bodechon who also came to Canada. All of the family memebers language was French.
Any help would be greatly appreciated even the correct spelling of surnames.

Looking for Misson, Dumont, Edwards, Barban, & Everett Families of Charleroi

I am trying to find anyone researching or connected to these families from the Charleroi area.

Phillip Misson born about 1800 married Theresa Everett

children: Victor Joseph born 9/13/1833 born in Charleroi
Dieu Done born 1828
Julian born 1835

Victor studied interior decorating and art at the University in Charleroi and by the mid 1860's was a noted religious artist in Belgium. He had done much work for the churches. I suspect fresco painting. He immigrated to the United States in 1890 with wife and 3 children. When Victor died in 1928, his brother Dieu Don and sister, Julian were still living in Belgium. Dieu Don had past his 100th birthday and Julian was 93 years old.

Victor married Marie Edwards about 1860 in Belgium. She was born 10/19/1840 in Belgium to Phillip Edwards and Marian Barban. Her parents were from Belgium.

Victor and Marie had 7 children and to my knowledge only 3 moved to the United States with them in 1890's. So all others would have died in Belgium. Their children were:

1. Achille M. born 4/12/1871 in Belgium married in the United States
2. George Maurice or Morris born 8/1882 in Belgium
3. Alina born 3/1864 in Belgium and married Arthur Doumont in Belgium and both immigrated in 1890 to United States.

The families of Victor Misson and Arthur Doumont settled in Butler, Pennsylvania from 1890 to about 1910, then they both moved to Ohio.

If anyone can help with these families, I would be extremely grateful!

Her sister Marie lived in Tourgoing after marrying Jean Louis DuFrenoy. Valentin may have lived with her Father Georges and brother Pierre in Roubaix, France. Her father was involved with the silk industry in the same village.
They all arrived in America between 1889 to 1920. except for Georges who remained in Europe.

My Great Grandfather Guillaume Henricus Goormachtigh and his wife Catherine Tierre left Belgium in 1886 and went to Pennsylvania and then to Belmont County Ohio i know he was a Coal Miner. I am trying to get any information and confirm information i have put together.
The Tierre family i am looking for is my GG Grandparents PIERRE TIERRE and his wife MARCELINE YANSEN i know nothing of them except what i found on my GG Uncle Augustus Tierre's record of funeral from Belmont County Ohio. I can presume that they were also Coal Miners since it seems most of the family was. If there is anyone that has any information on these families i would love to hear from you.

I am attempting to find information on my ggrandparents Emile and Belonie Oleffe, who with three sons, Joseph, Edgar and Omer, migrated to the US in 1902. They are listed on the Ellis Island site as having been from Ransart, which I believe is in Charleroi (SP). They came to be with a cousin Joseph Decroo, who resided in Sturgeon, PA. Emile and Belonie disappear, but their sons Joseph, my biological grandfather and Edgard, my biological g-uncle appear in Wyoming during the 1920.
Any one knowing of this original family, or how I can research information in Ransart, on this family, please let me know, or direct me to the right resource.

Thank you in advance.

James Harris
jamesh1645@juno.com

I was only 6 when she died and have no record of any of these relatives names. Most may be gone, but perhaps a descendant remembers or has records. Her father's name was Jules Marchant son of Adolph Marchant and Francis Lecuyer. Her mother was Lydie Boisdrenghien daughter of Joseph Boisdrenghien and Josephine Preat. Joseph died in Belgium and Josephine's second husband was named August Maison. They all came to the U.S. in approximately 1887. Any information will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Hello, I'm looking for information on Emile Ghislain Dubois who was born in Sars-la-Buissiese some time around 1848/1849. He was the son of Floribert Joseph and Clotilde Legrand Dubois. He married Elisa Mathy on 1/31/1877 in Philippeville, Belgium. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
