The Surname of Hainaut is quite common in Belgium and northern France. My grandfather (Jules Joseph) and my great grandfather (Louis Joseph) immigrated to the United States to The United States along with my Great Great Grandfather Pierre Joseph Descutner in 1885. They lived in Washington County, Pennsylvania in McDonald, PA. Later some of the Hainauts and Descutners moved to Ohio. I visited relatives in McDonald many times when I was growing up. I have my family traced back to both Belgium and France. My earliest was Louis Joseph Hainaut born 15 Nov 1768 in Vieux-Conde' of Nord, Nord Pas de Calais. My great great grandfather and my grandmother came from Charlerois, Belgium. My Aunt and my brother have visited the old home of the Hainauts in Belgium. Once I found Jules Joseph, I was able to trace back to Jacques Hainaut and his wife Francoise Donnez , both born about 1675.
