My family is researching ancestors and history from Belgium.
They immigrated to USA from Jumet, Belgium between 1880 and 1890. Their first home was in Jeannett PA where they were all employed in the glass making profession.
We would appreciate any information very much.

My g-grandfather is believed to be Aime MAYER, b Aug 25, 1855 in Jumet. His daughter, Flora b. 1879 - Jumet, was my grandmother. Aime and possibly other family members moved to Grant Co IN 1880-1892. This was some time after the discovery of natural gas, which was a cheap source of heat to produce glass. Aime, and possibly other family members were glassblowers. There may have been a recruitment from Europe to these new factories in the US.

Hello Guy, do you have any information on Mitchel/Michael Londot, b-1850 and married to Josephine Barrie. He came to work in glass fabrication in the US with his sons Moses L. Londot and Emile Londot. They were from Jumet or Charleroi.
They spoke only French when they arrived in about 1885.

My Grand Father Joseph Jean Vrancken worked for Houze Glass in Point Marion. He was born 1878. He immigrated from Jumet in 1907 with wife Rosa Danloi Vrancken from Gilly and son Roger Joseph Vrancken, my father. Cannot trace back so am looking for information on any records possible as to GREAT Grand Father Desire Vrancken and his wifes name etc. Just beginning search backwards for GREAT GRAND PARENTS and beyond.

Any info appreciated.

Hi there. Very interesting your ancestor lived in point Marion, AND came from Jumet. My grand mother has the same background. Her name was Virginia Micheux. I do not have much more knowledge about her, but I just had dna done with ancestry.
