Hi Clayton! I'm not sure if I have any more information for you, as everything that is currently on the Johnston/Hatch tree (I am a third great granddaughter of Edward Davis, through his son Clarence) is all that I currently have. I was, however, able to find something of interest with the help of a Dutch friend who searched a Belgian site for me -- my grand uncle did some research back in the 90s/early 2000s and had Stephanie Davis (nee De Meyer) listed as being from 'Oastechoo', a town that doesn't exist in Belgium, and my Dutch friend believed it may have actually been an incorrect transcription of Oosteeklo. She found this information on the town's site (
http://www.oosteeklo.com/index.php?m=historiek&f=migrati...) :
"De familie De Meyer - De Vos vertrok met vier personen naar Amerika.("The family De Meyer - De Vos left [with] four people to America."), which appears to have been around the same timeframe (1880s) as Edward, Stephanie, and Peter immigrated to the US, so I believe this is them, but have been unable to access Belgian records to confirm this, as well as figure out who the fourth person would have been. I'm sure there are church records in that town that may have a marriage record or birth/baptism record for Peter, if this is where they were from, but I have no way to visit Belgium and don't believe these records are currently online.
I would absolutely love to hear the information you find out this summer, as I think it may give us more insight into where Edward was from and more information about the family in general! Do you have an email address I could contact you at?
