Francis
Thijssen was my 12th Great Grandfather - he was born in 1545 at
Ghent, Oost-Vlaanderen, Belguium. His son Daniel
Thijssen was born in 1565 at
Ghent, Oost-Vlaanderen, Belgium - married Appollonia Ridleys in 1590 at Vlissingen, Zeeland Netherlands. They had two sons, Martin
Thijssen, born in 1598 at Vlissingen, Zeeland, Netherlands. He later became a
Dutch (and later a Swedish) Admiral and in 1654 was enobled by Swedish Queeen Christine and took the name
Baron Ankerheilm. His brother (name unknown, but according to some records his name was Francis - this is still being researched....possibly THE Francis
Thijssen who was born in 1600 in Vlissingen, Zeeland, Netherlands) and became a
Dutch Admiral and explored the south coast of Australia in 1627)He (son of Daniel and Appollonia) had a son Bartholomaeus Tiessen who married Barbara
Kauffmann and they had a son
Elias Tiessen (1665-1704) who married Esther Peters....and so on. My main query is: Was this unnamed son really the Francis
Thijssen who discovered Australia?? If you have any input, or need any further information, please get back to me!
