Guillame Jr, Virginia and Arthur left Charleroi Belgium and moved to Ohio in the 1880's. I would appreciate any death information or marriage on the family and will gladly trade lookups in Las Vegas Nv or Census lookups for the United States.

What year did you Dad come to the U.S? I have so little info but i do show that Jean-Baptist Goomachtigh had 2 wives one being Maria Theresa Van Cauwenbergh and unknown and out of the one or 2 marriages 5 children. I dont have verification of any of this since i have little access to records but my guess is this is correct since they came from a cousin in Belgium. Wish i had more info.

Wow its great to hear from a Cousin!! I have a letter another of our very distant cousins wrote to me and i think you would like to see it. I do know My G-Grandparents Henry Fredricus Goormachtigh and his Wife Josephine came with your G-Grandparents in 1886 and they all as you said settled in Ohio but i do know my G- Grandparents moved first to Pennsylvania. In the 1910 or 1920 our G- Uncle Arthur and his wife moved there also. I have found tickets at Ellis Island for your G-Grandpa and his son and my G-Grandpa for 1907 when they went back to Belgium for a trip i have an idea one of our GG Grandparents must have died or something like that. I would love to have a copy of Virginias obit. I also have a copy of M G-Grandpas Naturalilzation papers. I have been in contact with another Cousin who came here about 8 yrs ago from Belgium his name is Harry Goormaghtigh. I dont know if you are aware my G- Grandpa changed the family name to Gormastic then to Goormastic.
The Letter i wanted to send you has some of our Goormachtigh Grandparents names. A geneologist in Belgium shows some different info so i have to contact the different Belgium towns. Who is your Grandparents since i already have information on Virginias kids. I have them on several census forms. Maybe together we can find more info. When did your family name spelling change? Looking forward to hearing back from you soon.....Cheri
