This is what I know about the De Taeye family I am researching. Emile De Taeye came to this country from Belgium in 1911 through Ellis Island. He already had a sister here by the name of Emelie. Two years later in 1913, Emile's wife Stephanie and their children Gustave and Florentine came from Belgium to join him. In 1920 Piet/Petrus Joseph Rymenams came to the US also. He brought his wife Virginie Florentine Vitz and his two sons, Gustaaf, and John. They were coming to join a "brother" Emile De Taeye. I think the language problem led to some translation problems with US immigration officers. This could have been Piet's/Petrus brother (half brother) from the different last names, or it could have been Virginie's brother, or as am starting to think, Virginie Rymenams and Stephanie De Taeye MAY have been sisters. All (I think- I do not have my notes in front of me) listed their place of residence as Roteslaer (this is the US Ellis Island Officer's spelling, so it is probably not the right spelling). Emile De Taeye and Piet/Petrus Rymenams settled in Racine Wisconsin, USA. Emile De Taeye would have been born around 1878. I am the great great granddaughter of Petrus and Virginie Rymenams. Any informatin you have would be very helpful. Do you know anything about obtaining birth and marriage records in Belgium?
