1900 Census has him in
Black Hawk Co Iowa & says he and his parents were born in Belgium.
Can't find him in the 1910 census.
1920 census has him in
Mitchell Co Iowa & says he and his parents were born in Belgium. It also lists his native language as Frisian (same for parents). A little research finds
Friesland was once a nation in what we know as northern Holland, NW Germany, & Denmark. A
Friesland web-site says most people speak either Frisian or
Dutch.
1930 census still has him in
Mitchell Co Iowa & says he and his parents were born in Belgium. It says his native language is Flemish.
Census also indicates he immigrated in 1885 and was naturalized in 1891. However, I have not found any trace of him before 1895. By then he was in
Iowa.
