Looking for any information on Jacques De Jaegher (b. 1753-7)
or brother Phillipe De Jaegher (b. 1758-9). Brothers who subsequently lived in Maria-Leerne. Birthplaces unknown.

Also interested in any contacts who are doing research on the
DeJaeger family in Belgium...particulary in the Bachte-Maria-Leerne areas c. 1700-1900s.

Many thanks.

My mother was a De Jager. The name was spelled de Jaghere before they came here. She was born in Wingene, Belgium in 1907. Her fathers name was Felix, grandfathers name Charles Louis. My grandmothers name was Sidonia Pozzolo. Grandpa came to America in 1909. Grandma and 6 children were there during the first world war. The family came here after the war in 1919. I do have some research . Does any of this sound familiar? Barbara

My paternal great grandfather was Charles Louis (aka Karel
Lodewijk and signed documents as Chaerl DeJagre) DeJaeger, born in Bachte Maria-Leerne on March 2, 1843. He married Rosalia Kinds in Deurle on Feb. 19, 1879.
They had 7 sons and 2 daughters. One of the sons was surprise, Karel Lodewijk born in De Pinte on February 22, 1886. The whole family moved to Destelbergen from De Pinte in April of 1900. Their whereabouts thereafter I am unaware of...apart from the fact that my paternal grandfather Leonce Livinus DeJaeger came to the U.S. (Louisiana) in 1912 to work in a smelter, disliked this, and moved to Canada in the fall of 1913. Any possible connections? Wendy

My father was Richard James DeJaegher (South Bend, IN) but his family was very obscure to us. His parents died while I was 3-4 years old. All I can remember of them was that they never spoke English. Dad had a sister MaryAnn, and brothers - Dan? in Elkhart, IN and 1 or 2 more I never met.
I understand they were from Belgium and, if they seem to
be a part of all this I would love to speak to you more.
Thanks
Chris

Thanks for the response. Do you have names for your grandparents? Is this info available to you? You might check the Ellice Island site to locate DeJaeghers and their arrival in the U.S. That's how I located my grandfather...whose name got changed to DeYaeger as J's looked like Y's. Good luck. Keep in touch....Wendy DeYaeger Anthony
