My great aunt was Elise DeCleene from Ghent, Belgium. She was the Mother Superior of Algemeene children of the Sisters Franciscan of Ghent. She was there in May 1940 when the NAZIs invaded. No one in the family ever heard from her again. I recently learned from the Ghent Diocese that the only reord they have of her is that she died on July 6, 1940 in Vejle, Denamark. I have one photo of her in front of the convent with the other Sisters. Does anyone know of her or where I could find out more information about her? Her mother's name was Stephanie DeCleene. Her sister was Marie [my grandmother] and her brothers were August and Alphons. Marie married Charles Brabant. Stephanie, Marie, Charles, August and Alphons all immigrated to America.
