Dear Johan:
This is what I have. I do not know if it will be the right person. Please let me know.
Melanie Van Hecke, born 8 Dec 1848; her father was Jacobus Bernardus Van Hecke, her mother was Francisca Roesbeke from Assenede
When Melanie was 19 she had a son, Eduardus Van Hecke. At her marriage in November, 1874 to Francies Staelens the child's name becomes Eduardus Staelens
Edward Staelens married Maria Louiza Uijttenhove. They are my great grandparents.
The family stayed in Assenede from 1806; I do not have a death date for Melanie;
By the way, Jacobus Bernardus mother was Marie Anna De Meester
Francisca Roesbeke's parents were Pieter J. Roesbeke and C Van Weijnsberghe
I sure hope this is a connection!!

Thank you
Vicki

Dear Johan
I think we should not give up so easily.
In America many times children were named for other relatives. Does that happen in Belgium? It seems to much of a coincidence that we have the same name in a similar area.

I will try to verify the dates/information I have
