Thank you very much for the reply. This is what I know about this gentleman. Constant Burvenich was born around 1828 in Deinze - I don not have an exact date, and only the name of his father, Louis. He sailed to England aboard the ship HOlland, arriving at the Port of lOndon on 8 October 1856. I have no idea why he chose to come to England. In July 1859, Constant marries Annie Davis in Northampton, and they go on to have five children, two of whom die in infancy. Constant worked as a Professor of Lnaguages. In the autumn of 1878 he committed suicide whilst being depressed. He left a widow and three survivng children, one of whom was my husbands great greandmother.
I would be very grateful for any information that you can give me regarding the life of the Burvenich family in Deinze. It as been suggested to me that the family may have originated in Germany before moving to Belguim?
