My research commenced with fact finding based on an oral history. There is Census information available for CHAPMAN, SOULDEN and BLANCHARD in the Cambridgeshire area and some has been confirmed by a researcher.

Yes I would appreciate being a guest on your tree's list.

Margaret

Hello Margaret
Thank you for your message. I do not recall Eliza Ann ever being called Minnie, but she died in 1914 just after my mother was born. I did not know that William's parents were George and Mary or that he had a brother Edmund, could you tell me where the info came from?
I have copies of the naturalisation papers if you would like them. Also I am quite happy for you to go on my tree's guest list.
I am quite happy re the communication would you prefer email or through Ancestry?
Regards Susan
Hi Susan
It is with interest I have been reading through your query online and the amazing assistance you have received. I only located your Gt grandmother Eliza Ann about two months ago. This question may sound strange, but was she ever called 'Minnie'?

William CHAPMAN married again after his first wife Eliza SOULDEN died. I am descended from Victor Harry CHAPMAN a son of the second marriage to Rebecca BLANCHARD. William was born in Walsoken,Cambridgeshire, ENG in 1827. His father's name was George and his mother Mary. He had one brother Edmund.

Maybe Johnny Driessen is able to find more CHAPMAN births between 1860 and 1875 in Antwerp for Rebecca, Victor 1870, Arthur 1872. It also looks like Sarah has located the naturalisation papers for William.

I would love to communicate with you in more detail.

Margaret

Hi,

My father, Joseph Forster served as a specialist fire fighter on the Drew Four, a US naval fire boat in Antwerp, Belgium harbor. It was their job to put out ship and port fires. Finding it hard to find a picture of the boat, or any information on US Navy WW2, naval marine fire fighters stationed in Belgium, does anyone know of any sources?

Thanks so much,

Ann Forster

The place you mean is EGEM, indeed in West-Flandres.

He married twice, first with Theresia Van Maele and as she died one year after the marriage, he remarried her niece, the daughter of Theresia's sister.

I found already 2 daughters of him but will look further for a son.
Hilde, thank you so much again for all of your help. Could you possibly find out who Phelix Hellebuyck's parents were. Phelix was married to Jennie ? They had 11 or 12 kids. I have Phelix, but nothing from his life before coming to America.

Betty Lake

Hi I have hit a brick wall with my ggg grandfather. He died at sea during his time in the navy and when i recieved the death certificate it stated he was from Belgium. It now appears that he changed his name to John Ratings when he came to Liverpool. I have since been told his surname was originally Ratinckx but i have no idea of his first name. Any ideas what I should do now?
Thankyou
