I am very excited to hear from you. I know nothing about the family. Maybe we can help each other. All I know is that Johanna Catherina Geertruida Sanches married John Henri Faverey 1873. Johanna's parents were David Jacob Sanches and Carolina Geertuida or Geertruyda Bruyn. I don't know what nationality the Sanches are or where they originated from. Can you help me with this? The farthest back I go is Jacob Moses Sanches (Wehl) born 1795 in Amsterdam, Netherlands Thank you and Good Luck

Hi there, have you checked the old newspapers at http://kranten.kb.nl/search where you can obtain possible other leads. When you are on the search page for the newspapers go to geavanceerd zoeken and on that page check Surinam and familieberichten.I can see that you have already posted on network 54 the same question. On that network have you looked up the information on Heilbron, click Zoeken at the top of the page. There are specialist Heilbron researchers. A lot of the old records from Surinam are available in The Hague in the Netherlands. I presume that this branch is not your personal ancestry? Regards

One of my ancestors, John Hilton Jackson, was employed in Suriname in the early 19th century, as a manager of a coffee plantation there. He was born in Amsterdam in 1821 to English parents (Thoms Jackson and Hannah Leonard). In Suriname he married Sarah Anna Heilbron. Later he became a district commissioner for the Paramaribo district where he is buried.

Anyone have more information or leads I can follow?

I can see you have been looking for him for a long time. He does show up on various shipping manifests as going back to the UK over the years, if you are interested in tracking his travels. Did he first go there in 1924?

I see that he was an engineer and so I wanted to suggest to you that possibly he was a member of an engineering association in the UK and that they might possibly have the information you are seeking about him. I know that my father, who was an engineer, maintained his professional membership no matter where he was living. Do you know what kind of engineer he was - civil, mechanical?

My maternal Great Great grandmother was Johanna Maria Louisa Junsch she was known as Louisa..was Gustav your grandfather Gustaaf Cornelis Junsch? If so, I believe that they were brother and sister. My grandmother's maiden name was Alice Elisabeth Rens then her last name became Biekmann, then she was widowed when Anton Biekman died when she was 17. She came to NYC from Paramaribo with her mother and her aunt Helena who had been married to Hendricus Lichtveld in 1918 on a boat called the Juno.

Hello Fay, A Samuel Lee Kong married a relative of mine, Violet May nee Spicer. I only found this link earlier this morning and I am currently following leads on the net. I have the marriage under the name of Lim Kong to Violet and later he is referred to as Sam Lee Kong. Marriage was 20 Dec 1916 at Northam, Western Australia. Father Lim Gee Kong. Mother Ah Gee. I am tracing my son-in-law's Great Grandfather.
He came to Western Australia via Albany as Lim Kong and changed his name to Samuel Lee-Kong, around 1880.
His father was Lim Gee and his mother was Ah Gee.
He was born in Hong Kong 1868.

Are you able to give me some advise as to finding out more
information.

Hello There, I cannot give you information about the Sanchez family but my Great, Grandfather was Richard J. Balthazar Dericks, born 1853 to a Dutch father and Spanish mother. Yes, I am Uncle Teddy's daughter. That is right about your brothers name. I do remember him though and then I remember hearing that he was murdered in Mexico or something.

WOW WOW,I don't know where to begin. Do you have an email address. You are my cousin, first cousin. I am the youngest of cousins as my dad was your moms youngest sibling and I came late in life for my parents.
I never met any of my grandparents. Yes, Jane was "labeled"
the blacksheep and I knew her son Michael but I didn't know she had a daughter.

My mother was Jane Ann - brothers, Theodore, Rudy (married to Mary, they had two boys Michael & John took care of Peter and his brother when parents killed in fire), Jule, sisters, Louise, Esme, have immigration papers for grandparents. Don't know if same family. My mother was the "black sheep - so to speak".

Have you found the Cairo-Marengo Stamboom? This website has information on some of the sno family - and relates to other families that come from the vier kinderen plantation. My family is also associated with the vier kinderen, via my father's grandmother - the Ligeon family.

The Surinaamse website on network 54 is also useful. Can you read Dutch? It would come in useful - though most Dutchies understand English and will reply to any requests in English if needed. If you need more help accessing these websites let me know.

Do you know any Dutch? I always assume that the overseas family does - but so many of them are now in English speaking countries.

Hi Dinabeth! I have met Jerry Overeem a couple of years ago. He is my husbands cousin. It was a branch of the family that had lost touch and it was fun to reunite. I haven't touched my genealogy in a long time but need to get back into it.

I know that we are related to the Bribags (spelling?) somehow but not sure of the exact connection. My Sister-in-law Mamie Giancarli knows, but she is currently visiting family in Holland. Feel free to contact me.

I'm fortunate enough to have taught myself how to read Dutch (I live in Australia - not much chance to practice Dutch here) - very usefull when researching a Dutch family. I find it hard to write in Dutch though - I find this online program useful when translating from Dutch to English, and visa versa (not perfect - but it gets me there)

However, the best thing to do is to familiarise yourself with some of the terms used frequently in Dutch genealogy. Often when I translate the pages - even the names get changed, and they shouldn't need to be.

I May know someone who has a connection to the Overeem's you know in New Jersey. My father's family is from Suriname. He has 2 sister inlaw's whose families have a connection to Overeem. One is his sister inlaw Petronella Johanna Overeem, the other is Elfried van Brussel, with Overeem connections.

I have contact with a jerry Overeem, who lives in New Jersy and is researching the Overeem family.

I have also found a family on the internet that includes Overeem's and Ravenwaaij's in their family tree 'Parenteel van Cornelis Jooste van Brussel'

My mother always talkes about 4 brothers who fled and settled is South America (Guyana) one brother returned.
My mother : L.W. Beck lives in Curacao now.

J.F. Faverey bought Adolphina Flora Azuur to free her from slavery. If she is her mother it means he himself was a former slave or son of her and a free man (like a plantation owner).

choose emancipatie, (abolition of slavery)
J.F. Faverey is an owner of slaves.
