Oh, I am sooo excited to hear from you!!!
I have spent the last 20 minutes after reading your letter ripping up my house trying to find my info on Stiles. I believe he married a Porcia-but may be wishful thinking. I did find his military records which talk about his life at great length-I just can not find them at the moment!!!
I do remember this much-He married first in Chile and then in about 1880 after his first wife died he married again in New York-to possibly his first wifes sister.
I also believe that all of the Stanton's in Chile at the time were related to the ones from my family-The fist Stanton down there was my Stiles who went there after the war to work for a train company as their book keeper. My William named one of his children after his brother Stiles, and I often wondered if Stiles did the same. Please write back with any info you have-I would love to hear more and maybe we can put these pieces together. One more note-I do know that at the end of his life-he was in New York, and for some reason is buried in PA.
I can not wait to hear from you.
Thanks so much, Robbi Hoy
