She is number 9 in the Bäcke 1834 moving-in list, moving to page 37, in AD Tisselskog B:1 (1807-1860) Image 65 / page 124 (AID: v10965.b65.s124, NAD: SE/GLA/13553).

She is found at Bäckefors in AD Bäcke AI:6 (1830-1840) Image 43 / page 37 (AID: v3836.b43.s37, NAD: SE/GLA/13071).

She moves 1835 to Gunnar???, perhaps Gunnarsnäs?

Her name is Anna Lisa Eriksdotter born 16 Oct 1815 in Skållerud. She is the sixth line from the bottom of the left page. I have also attached an image.

I am hoping someone can help me figure out where my relative Märta Eriksdotter, ended up. She was born in Hästhagen, Skållerud, Sweden on 11 August 1812 to Erik Olofsson and Britta Andersdotter Uppström. I followed her to Holm in 1831 and back to Skållerud in 1832 bouncing around villages/towns until 1837/1838 and I am kind of stuck on where she goes after that.

He received work certificates (to look for work in other parishes) in Feb 1891 and 24 Feb 1894.
The remark says he is in America, but it seems he left without giving proper notice.

Both he and Karl Johan were absent at the examinations 1891-1893, and both have communion dates 9 Sep(?) 1894.

I am trying to assist my cousin in Norway. He is asking for some assistance with immigration records for Anders Wilhelm Johannesson born 7 January 1873 in Bäcke, Älvsborg County, Sweden and according to the attached parish record it appears he left Bӧn, Bäcke (Parish), Älvsborg County, Sweden for America on 24 Feb 1894.

Possible wife's name is Augusta. Also one brother added Dahlgren as an additional last name.

His father was:
Joannes Svensson born 26 March 1824 in Järbo, Västra Götaland, Sweden and died 5 August 1875 in Bӧn, Bäcke, Älvsborg, Sweden.

His mother was:
Maja Kajsa Svendsdotter born 28 January 1837 in Bäcke, Älvsborg, Sweden and died 1911 in Sweden.

Can anyone locate his immigration info?

Karl Axel Viktor Lindstrand had previously been on line 3 of the same page. He was listed with his parents until his marriage. Note that they are not Lindstrands. He took that name, apparently, when he became a painter or more probably when he was a voluntär in the military service.

My name is Ina Cedheim and I accidently found my name in this thread.

In 2010 my husband Peter and I bought 'Signalvägen 8' from Ingrid Tordenborg. Her husband Rolf died in 2010, and they had no children.

I don't know more about the families mentioned, but there are no relations with us but the house. I think that Ingrid is now living in a Care fore older persons.

I found him on page 76 where the comment is written: "Vistas i Norge". That means he is staying in/residing in Norway, but maybe he left from there to go elsewhere, such as America.

Emihamn does NOT show people moving to Norway.

He is not on the Emibas CD.

Where was he when you last found him in the parish records for Sweden? (Be specific. Use a specific source reference.)

The 1900 Swedish Census CD lists him as being on the page for the "nonexistent" so he must have left Sweden without getting his moving out certificate from the parish.

Anders Magnus Andersson born 27 September 1861 in Gunnarsnäs, Älvsborgs County, Sweden. I think he may have immigrated to Norway between 1890 to 1894 and then possibly to Minneapolis, Minnesota. I've tried checking the Norway 1900 census but I'm not having any luck.

Swedish Record: Älvsborg, Gunnarsnäs, Husförhör (Household examination) for 1891 - 1896 (AI:20) Page 162 (number 21 thru 24) and Page 51.

I am trying to confirm that Alfred Andersson immigrated to America and see if anyone can help me actually determine where in the US he moved. I know he left his wife and children listed below behind until I think October 1896 but I am not positive as I can not make out the info written in the record I listed above.

Alfred Andersson was born 8 November 1845 in Gaddespangen, Svankila, Skallerud, Sweden. I believe immigrated to America on 9 May 1873 while leaving his wife Ida Andreasdotter and three children in Sweden.

Ida Andreasdotter was born 6 June 1846 in Holm, Alvsborg, Sweden.

Children of Alfred and Ida:

1) Anders Gustaf Alfredsson born 4 August 1868 in Holm, Älvsborg, Sweden
2) Augusta Alfredsdotter born 13 September 1870 in Honerud, Gunnarsnas, Sweden
3) Maria Alfredsdotter born 20 September 1872 in Honerud, Gunnarsnäs, Sweden

I think they also immigrated to America but later in October 1896 but I am not positive. I have checked US census and the Swedish Death Index and can not seem to come up with anymore info.

I wanted to thank you for all the help you gave me in this post. I was able to find Erik Gustaf Andersson. He immigrated from Norway to Minneapolis, Minnesota. Without your help, I would have never found him so thank you so so much!

I was wondering if you had any advice for me on finding his brother Anders Magnus Andersson. I've looked in the Norway census, familysearch.org, I don't have access to any of the emigration databases.

I wanted to check Svar but I don't have a membership. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I've purchased a few of the previous death index discs. I'm just glad they keep working on transcribing this information for us. Indexes make it easier to find people. I'm looking forward to the release of a new dvd for deaths, but I suppose it is not coming out any time soon.

You don't "have to" purchase a new dvd for Swedish deaths. Lookups are done all the time on these boards and on Swedish genealogy lists. You can go to the Family History Library and use one for free.

The transcribers probably are earning money for their genealogical societies. I am on the board of a local society near me. Fund raisers are essential to the survival of societies. We charge $25 for a year's membership to our society, which has its own genealogical library of over 11,000 books. Each member's actual cost to our society is over twice the dues they pay. (Among other things, we have to pay rent -- expensive rent -- for the part of the building which holds our library.) Our society would go broke without fundraisers.

There might be some information on Johanna Sofia Ekman in the records for the Allmänna Barnhus. Those should be at the Stockholms Stadsarkiv. Maybe I'll check there eventually.

Right now I'm more busy working on the people on my farfars side of the family, but I'll get back to Johanna Sofia at some point.

I figured you didn't know where she was from but thought I would ask. The Ekman's on my tree are from Eskilstuna Fors, that's not too far from Stockholm. Maybe try there if you get a bug?

They had sign-up sheets. Perhaps you can sign up for help if you go to the SAG Workshop next year. Of course, there are many of us and few of them, so we can't expect 1-1 help for long, but that sort of topic could have been discussed at one of our social get-togethers, such as the dinner on Monday night. Others would have been interested too. The topic would have interested me. ;-)

It sounds as if you have found some friendly relatives for a change. Good for you!

The only family people named Ekman I've found were born in the city of Stockholm. Since I don't know where Johan Ulrik Ekman's mother (Johanna Sofia Ekman) came from, I have no idea who her family would have been.

I certainly must have many relatives in the Dalsland area. It is amazing how many people I have in my tree who were born in Dalsland province. Hopefully I will find more relatives than just the one I found accidentally in 2010 after I submit my GEDCOM to DISBYT. I have also found some distant relatives through DISBYT years ago, but I have much, much more knowledge of my family now.

The society is the South Suburban Genealogical and Historical Society. It has records from all over (because people donate materials) but our society mainly covers the southern suburbs of Chicago. This is our website.

Most societies don't have their own libraries. Societies do have meetings with speakers on genealogical topics. They usually have a newsletter and/or journal. They have members who will be more interested in what you have found than most members of your family will be. ;-) We all love genealogy and love to hear success stories or offer suggestions of what to do next to further your search. Most of what I know about U.S. research comes from a society member who was kind enough to get me started back in 2000.

I wanted to but they were really busy. The weirdest thing happened when I got back, I had to go to New York overnight for biz and this Swedish couple were kn my client's office for surgery, anyhow, I spoke to him and he said that Swedes are reserved and shy and I should keep that in mind. So I thought about it and let it go. Then I posted an ? on Sarpsborg, Ostfold, Norway board and my 4th cousin answered and we have been emailing ever since. After that, I got an email from my second cousin in Lulea and he and I spoke for two hours this morning. I can't believe it. I am so happy. Time for you to meet your family too don't you think?

BTW, I have some Ekman's in the family from the Visby area, I wonder if they could be related?

I'm glad you had success. Much of our success does come from thinking about and analyzing what we've found.

Did you ever have a chance to talk to Elisabeth or Ingrid about your problems with uninterested Swedish relatives you've found?

Do you mean my farmors far, Johan Ulrik Ekman, who was born to unnamed parents in 1846? He is the one whose mother was found a few years later in a couple of scanned records on the Stockholms Stadsarkiv site.

No, I haven't been able to find any more about his mother (Johanna Sofia Ekman), but then, I haven't worked recently on trying to find her. I did find a couple of extra children born to a woman with the same name.

I have far too many other people to research to frustrate myself with this particular man's ancestry.
