Thanks for spelling it out for me Bo....that makes it a bit easier for me to understand. I appreciate it!
Regarding his siblings, I know Sigrid came to join her parents in Philadelphia in 1900. She died of tuberculosis in 1907. Her parents also died of TB in 1912 and 1914, and Karl's first wife too, in 1915. Sigrid, Ester, and Sven Johan (changed to John after he came here) are all buried in Fernwood Cemetery in Lansdowne, PA, and Karl's first wife Helen is nearby in Holy Cross cemetery (I believe she was Catholic). I truly hope this is the right Karl, not only for genealogical reasons, but because I spent several hours tracking down their unmarked graves in 100+ degree weather!! Thank goodness for helpful cemetery employees!! (I also found Karl's grave, in the abandoned and wild Mt Moriah cemetery....THAT was an adventure in and of itself).
Before his first wife died, they had a daughter named Sigrid (1912). I have wondered if she was named after Karl's sister, but again until I can definitively prove the America-Karl and the Sweden-Karl are one and the same, then I guess I can't look at it as more than coincidence :(
You mentioned his sister Anna with foster parents, the foster father being Fredrik Andersson. I have her maternal grandmother as possibly being Maria Andersdotter (b. 1832), so maybe Fredrik was an uncle of Anna's mother, Ester.
In any event, looks like I have an awful lot of research to do!! I haven't decided yet whether to buy a subscription to ArkivDigital (I see they have an iPad app....yay!) or maybe try accessing it at some of the LDS Family History Centers in my area.
A big THANK YOU to everyone who's helped me with explanations, research, etc. on this thread!! Your time, patience and help is very much appreciated!!
