Surnames: Larsson Matsdotter
I am researching Anders Larsson born 1793 GID 161.95.72700. It appears that his first wife was Brita Matsdotter (born 1770)marriage 1815 GID 161.17.77100. Anders was married to Brita until her death in 1838 GID 161.36.36500.
Have I missed some information that was on the household examinations?
GID 161.60.53100 Household examination 1807 1818
GID 161.11.53500 Household examination 1830 1839.
After Brita's death Anders marries and has children with his second wife (Cherstin Persdotter).
Was there some kind of financial attraction or was it love? It seems like the age difference of Anders (age 23) and Brita (age 45) was out of the norm from other marriages that I have looked at.
I would appreciate any information or corrections on my research.
Thanks so much, Carol Larson

I don't have time to look at these records but I've seen huge age differences (with a much older wife) several times. I think people back then thought much less about romantic love (in the modern sense) and much more about practicalities. The woman probably was married before and needed someone to work the farm. The man probably needed a farm to work.

I'm sure someone with time to look at these specific records can give a better answer, but this situation is not as rare as you might think.

Judy,
Thank you for the information. The wife,Brita, was a "Piga" when they married and there were no children born during the marriage. I don't think he inherited a farm or property from the union. They were living at one farm when they married and at another at the time of her death,
Carol
