Thank you Martin. I find it interesting that Hanna had heart and kidney problems. Her grandson, Russell, also had heart problems and died at age 54 from that. Her grandson, Owen, (my 1st husband) had heart problems brought on by diabetes and died when he was 60. Her 2great grandson (my son) Jeff passed away from heart and kidney problems when he was 36. He had Lupus. I am a great believer that a lot of who you are comes from your ancestors. I think I have enough information and won't bother you anymore. I do appreciate what you have done and will help someone with their search someday to "pass it forward." Sandi

Yes, they were living on a small farm. Anders Nilsson is called both Eg. (Egare = owner) and Åbo (he owned the right to lease a property and this right could be and was inherited). He died 16 Jan 1898.

i will find out the info and get back to you i have to contact my grandfather. I know that he came here and went to wisconsin michigan area first and work in lumber and then moved down to ill and met my great grandma anna and they were married i am still trying to find the info on their marriage according to the 1917-1918 world war 1 draft card i found and the 1930 and 1940 census is what i have found so far.

Thank you so much. Do these two have the same father? And is that the first name on the page the father's name or is it Hanna's father's name? The Alma listed, is she a sister?

I have done some research in Norway and being illigitimate wasn't a social evil as long as the parents were married later. Something to do with not enough work or room for another farm so they stayed on the farms where they were working. Is that true of Sweden?

Olof was born in 10 February 1884 and Nels on 24 September 1887. They both stated they emmigrated in 1903. Nels stated on his WWI draft registration he was born in Hornby, Skane Sweden. Their mother's maiden name was Nelson. Any information anyone can provide would be very much appreciated.

Olof married (1) Agnes Nelson and they were the parents of LeRoy and Russell. She died in 1818 and Olof remarried in 1933 to Nellie Nelson King. Nels was married to Hilma Johnson. They had no children. He died in Elbow Lake, Grant County in 1987 and Olof in Otter Tail County in 1972.

The f in Hansfon is not an f but a long s, so Hansfon means Hansson.

i beleieve this would be him as when he moved from what i was told he came home and ddecided to pack and leave for america one day and not look back is there any more information you can provide me with such as records going froward from there trying to find family once he left sweden he stayed in contact fro awhile then lost all contact so we have never really knowing any other history to our family i also see on the census that the last name could have been maybe spelt different or just handwriting makes it seem as if it could have been hansfon just wanna make sure i am checking all facts

This Nils August Hansson seems possible but you would need more US information to see if he really is your great-grandfather. He left Sweden without requesting a moving out certificate so we can't know the exact date of his emigration, but he was still in Sweden 14 June 1912 and is listed as absent in 1914, 1915 and 1916. There is a comment that he is in America.

my freind leroy was woundering about any living relatives that he could write to or call. he dosent know any of his grandfathers side. i found a recored that possible a brother came to america with him. therecord i found was of marten andersson, born on january 31st 1855. also born at skane sweden. his record says emigration may 4th 1869. at least thats what ancestry has.

I found him on the emigration index called the Emibas CD. Yes, he was born in Skåne province, but this specifically tells the parish. (Records were kept in the parish and he was born in Fränninge parish, Malmöhus county, Skåne province.)

Hello, I am completely unexperienced on this site.

But anyway, NIlla Månsdotter was my grandmother's grandmother, and her son Martin was my grandmother's father. As a widow, Nilla moved to USA but returned to Sweden again. Martin went back with her. So Antina did also go back with her, but returned once again to USA.
I have some info about these relatives, like a beautiful studio photo of Nilla, taken in the Lundquist studio, Odebolt Iowa.

I know the whereabouts of some of the relatives, but not all. Are you a relative?
When looking for Antina, please keep in mind that she was often called Tina.

Perhaps Väla is the place that Johanna's father came from?

This seems to be your "Jon Swensson" at Väla number 7, in AD Kropp AI:4 (1827-1830) Image 62 / page 58 (AID: v107294.b62.s58, NAD: SE/LLA/13216):

I don't see Jon's birth in June 1797 in AD Kropp CI:2 (1758-1830) Image 103 / page 187 (AID: v107315.b103.s187, NAD: SE/LLA/13216).

Perhaps you can trace him backwards from Filborna instead?

He came 1830 from Kropp, but unfortunately there are no moving-out records covering 1830.

On the other hand, the Kropp HFL 1827-1830 has only 129 pages...

Hi,
I am looking for the parents of this couple.

Here is what I know: Jon and Johanna's marriage bans were published 18 Dec 1830, and they had children Jöns (26 Oct 1831) Karna (30 Nov 1833) and Petronella Botilla (3 Mar 1838)all born in Helsingborg.

I do not know Jon's birth or death date (although I know Johanna was a widow when she died in 1846), nor do I have his parents or siblings.

I do not know Johanna' birth date, although I have that she was 29 when married, or the names of parents or siblings. I do know from family records that she died 19 Jun 1846.

Is anyone else researching this family? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

As a side note, there's a novel by Fritiof Nilsson Piraten about a fictional character Jon Esping (based on the real person Ola Flygare), the master of Gottorps säteri (Vollsjö säteri). The novel is titled 'Bock i örtagård' and it's probably the funniest book I ever read. Unfortunately it have not been translated to English.

However, there's another novel by the same author, called 'Bombi Bitt och jag', which is a quite funny story about some hilarious events in the idyllic fictional village of Tosterup (Vollsjö). It's available in English under the title 'Bombi Bitt'.

In this case select; Län: 'Skåne län' Kommun: 'Sjöbo' Ort: 'Vollsjö'
Zoom in to the exact are you want to know more about and hit 'Sök'
Then chose a map from the list
In my opinion 'Ekonomiska kartan' from the 1970s is the easiest one to use (in this case 'Vollsjö J133-2D5e73')

As you can see Vollsjö 16 is the area around the church and Vollsjö 6 is a bit further to the east.

My guess is that your farfar grew up somewhere here http://goo.gl/maps/GcOs2 (Vollsjö No 16)
and that his family later moved to a house somewhere here http://goo.gl/maps/pPpok (Vollsjö No 6)

Vollsjö säteri, also Vollsjö kungsgård, Vollsjö gård or Vollsjögården [N55.6987 E13.7763] is an old estate, known from 1487 as Waløse, originally belonging to Danish nobility. It's located between the old church village (generally called Vollsjö by) and the new village that grew up north of the railwaystation (generally known as just Vollsjö). Vollsjö gård was one of 18 Danish nobles' estates ceded by Denmark in the Treaty of Copenhagen 1660, to regain the previously lost island of Bornholm.

Östra säteriet [N55.7041 E13.7984] is a different farm located north of the railway. As far as I understand it's less than 200 years old. The road leading east from the village square to this farm is called Säterivägen. The area southeast of Östra säteriet is often referred to as Säljeröd and further east lays Pregestad.

I found Gustavfa’s husband, Simon Zimmerdahl´s obituary notice and thought it might be of interest. It’s published 1894 in a local newspaper. Maybe someone here could help you with a translation? Otherwise I will help you with a translation later.

She had come 1863 from page 258, at Sandbäck number 5, where she had come 1861 from Björka.

But in the moing-in records she had come from Ilstorp, it was the person on the next line who had come from Björka.

She is in the Ilstorp moving-out list as number 7, leaving 1861-10-21 from page 125, destination Åsum.
