After 30 years of looking I have recently found my grandmother's father's family from Sweden. I would absolutely love to correspond with any relatives. Their info:
Nils Peter Andersson b. 15 Mar 1842 Lilla Örnshult, Hjorted, Kalmar, Sweden
Maria Charlotta Persdotter b. 21 Sep 1844 Bjerhiet, Misterhult, Kalmar, Sweden
this couple married 12 Oct 1866 Misterhult. Children:
Augusta Emilia Nilsdotter b. 15 Apr 1867 Misterhult
This family emigrated 27 May 1869- 19 Aug 1869 going first to Copenhagen, Denmark then embarking on a steam ship Santiago de Cuba, arriving New York 19 Aug., 1869.
Americanizad names became Nelson Peter Anderson and Mary Lottie Anderson. Mary Lottie Anderson gave birth immediately upon disembarking, having their first child born in America, Elena (Ella) Josephine Anderson 22 Aug., 1869 in New York City.
This family moved to the Chautauqua Co., NY/Warren Co., PA, area, which had a large settlement of Swedes. Later they moved (oddly) to the Virginia eastern shore where daughter Ella married James Absalom Waller "Abby" Smith in Westmoreland Co., VA. Many descendants came from this union.
Once in America, the family further expanded to include Charles Peter Anderson (my great-grandfather) b. 30 Jul., 1871, in Chautauqua Co., NY, and Mary S. Anderson, b. Jul., 1874, in Warren Co., PA.
Daughter Amelia, born in Sweden, married but had no children. Son Charles had 3 sons by one wife and 1 daughter by a second (my grandmother), all in Shelby/Marion Co., MO. Daughter Mary anderson married Wm. Wright and had a daughter Mary who never married.
This family (with the exception of Ella's family) ended up living in Shelby/Marion Counties in Missouri, just west of Hannibal.
I have further ancestral information on this family now, including noble ancestors. They are from Misterhult, Hjorted, Tuna, Frödinge parishes. Please contact me for details.
