Hi again, thanks so much for writing and I am glad you are hanging in there. About your mom, my mother is the same age, and like you I also am a caregiver. It is good to know what to expect re response time, so thanks for mentioning.

When you do have as much as possible organized and ready to post, consider posting on the Slaegt og Data DIS-Danmark website. There you'll find a forum called "Find Your Relatives in Denmark." Here we are in a "message board backwater." You posted a year ago and have just one responder (moi). On the high-traffic "Find..." forum, you might get several respondents within an hour or two (not a promise - but a possibility). Some of the same wonderful Danish and American volunteers cover Ancestry's Denmark boards. I guess suggesting the "Find..." forum to you is a little like doing triage and sending the patient straight to the ICU. This might be a tough one.

Thanks for clarifying about the name "John." That's signicant! Being precise and citing your sources is important.

I just worked on another thread where I posted, "Find a Grave memorial says this man was born 1837." Later, I checked him out. Looked through church book; he was not where he should be (in Norway). Kept looking. Found him born same day and month -but in 1827. Checked FAG again, clicking on gravestone photo this time. Gravestone clearly said 1827!! So the later date was simply a mistake/typo on the part of the FAG memorial creator. The later date had no bearing on anything.

So when we modern day folk layer our own guesses and mistakes onto the other errors and discrepancies that always show up in records, we can possibly muddy the waters. ; )

The key is that I wrote that FAG claimed him to be born 1837. That's true! I did NOT say he WAS born in 1837. That's very, very different.

So when genealogist (which I am not) posts info, i's always noted as being "...according to..." We have to evaluate the source to assess credibility of the info.

One last thought: if you do not get a speedy reply on "Find..." forum, it means people searched for you and found nothing helpful. But your post will be read! In that casé wait a week and post an update - additional info, or an indication you are still looking and you are actively interested. That is motivating. You'd be surprised how often a researcher spends hours finding and posting info, and then the seeker never returns to read the findings and post a response. About 80% of the answers posted are totally ignored by the person who asked the question. (Just my guesstimate - I would even go higher, lol).

Your awesome responses here are the single best indicator that this project might prove successful!

That said, the outcome remains uncertain. Crossing fingers! Hope these words help in some little way.

--kind regards
