My g-grandmother Bina Pearson was born in 'Flydant, Voxtorp, Sweden'...but I cannot find any evidence today of a place named Flydant. There is a town of Voxtorp (Kalmar) and, elsewhere (but not too far away in Jönköping), a parish, I guess, of Voxtorp. Maybe there are even more Voxtorps?
Can anyone advise me how to go about figuring out where she came from? I cannot find an emigration record for her, don't have a birth certificate or passport, and I don't speak or read Swedish (but am determined to puzzle through records in that language!).
Here's the sum total of what I know, in addition to 'Flydant, Voxtorp, Sweden':
Bina Pearson/Persson, b. 13 Mar 1872.
Arrived in the US (don't know where exactly) in either 1890 or 1892.
Married here in 1894.
Parents: Per Svensson (or Larsson), Bejote or Beate Jansson (or Bensson) (why not ...datter? I don't know). She died in 1928 and nobody thought to ascertain this information until much, much later. I have a photo that I have assumed is of her parents Per and Bejote/Beate, and the photo studio is 'Julius Gellberg - Engelholm'.
Siblings: Alfred, Nels J., and Ludwig Johan b. 28 Jan 1876 - all of these emigrated to the US, and there were a few more who stayed in Sweden.
MANY THANKS...TACK...for any advice anyone can offer!
Gretchen
