Trying to find where this family came from in Norway. This is what was passed down thru the family but have not seen any sources or proof.
In Norway, Caroline Holmen was married to a man with the last name of Olson and they had a son Ole T. Olson. The husband died and Caroline married a Thomas Thorison and they had a son, Thomas Irving (Burnstad)Thorison and a daughter, Belle Thorison. This husband also died. Caroline and her three small children came to America with her brother, Christian Holmen in 1861 according to census records of Iowa County, WI.
The family lived at Linden & Edmund, Iowa County, WI and I have the decendants of these 2 families but really would like to find where they came from in Norway.
It's been said they came from "Halen" but have not had luck finding this as a town or a farm so far. Checked records fo Halden but again found nothing.
Thomas Thorison was born April 25, 1858 and his mother, Caroline was born Jan. 27,1827. Christian Holmen was born abt. 1838. Have Caroline & Christian's parents as Peter Holmann and Isabelle.
I have also been thinking they would have gone by Petersen, etc...
Thank you for any advice or help!
