Literal Translation of Farm Names

Posted: 26 Feb 2014 2:42PM GMT
Classification: Query
Surnames: Sinnes Rue Rui Homen Holmen Farastad Aasness Aasnes Noraberg
I've often wondered what some of the literal translations are of the farm names in my family tree. Is there a good Norwegian that can help me out with this? I realize I've got lots of farms I'm wondering about, but I also know that maybe some of them cannot be translated...? Anyway, here are ones I've wondered about and some are, I'm guessing, sub-farms within larger farms:
Aarhus
Åsnes
Bjåland
Bråtenas or Bråtenes
Dillerud
Farastad
Feten
Fjågesund
Flåte
Folsland
Hogeli (or Høgeli or Høglid)
Homen (might've originally been Holmen)
Ingolvsland
Kallåk
Lekumdalen
Mæland
Mustorpdalen
Næss
Noraberg
Øy
Roholt
Rue (I think originally it was Rui)
Såheim
Sinnes
Tømmerkastet under Vestre Busnes
Tuftekasin in Busnesgrend
Urdbø
Veset
Thanks so much to anyone that can help!
Kaye
