The parish records show that "Gulbrand Helgesen Moen", born 1862, left the parish on 12 Apr 1882 with the destination "America".

The emigration records for Kristiania (Oslo) list "Gulbrand Hedlgesen", a carpenter from Østre Slidre, 20 years old, leaving Kristiania for St. Paul (Minnesota) with the ship "Rollo" on 5 May 1882, Note that the ship "Rollo" would only go as far as England. There, he would change ships and probably sail from Liverpool.

He is most probably the passenger (#345) listed as "Gul Helgeson", 20 yrs old, arriving in New York on 22 May 1882 aboard the British Ship "HMS City of Rome", which had sailed from Liverpool.
