One of the columns on many parish registers at digitalarkivet has a header that I don't understand. If someone out there has a couple minutes to translate this I would appreciate it very much. Thanks so much, Denise

(the typestyle is very old; foregive me if I'm interpreting it incorrectly) :)

Raar havt be naturlige Rops per eller baccis nerebe. Utteft berom.

Are you looking at a marriage record from the time period about 1820 - 1876 ?

I think you are misreading the gothic typeface. Try comparing to the translations for that time period that are included with the following article.

It is an interesting puzzle to try to guess what the origianal text is. My guess is: Naar havt de naturlige Copper eller vaccinerede. Attest derom.

= When had the natural copper (smallpox) or vaccinated. Certificate.

Thank you both - thoraway and haraldstorake. I think it is Smallpox vaccination. The date listed in this column consistently is when a person is about 2 years of age.

As translated by John Follesdal in the article I linked for you yesterday -

Naar havt de naturlige Kopper eller vaccinerede. Attest derom

When did they have smallpox or get vaccinated. Certificate of vaccination

A column of information collected on a standard format page for marriages 1820 - 1876.
