Searching for information on Arne Gulmunson Family from Ostre Berger, Brandvold's Parrish, Solar Norway. Immigrated to USA appx 1862. Homesteaded near Red Cloud,NE - died in Decorah Iowa appx 1904. Known child is Ole Arneson 2/21/62 from same farm. Ole married Theo Randine Hokaas (b.5/28/1844)from same area-both immigrated 1862. Another child possibly was Arne Arneson. Would like information on Arne Gulmnunson's wife and other children (if any). 1880 Nebraska census shows him as a widower. Thanks for any help!

I don't know if this is the same family, but my records of Arneson ancestors start with Benjamin Julian Arneson born in 1901 in Decorah, IA. He's my great grandfather and my mother cannot remember the name of his parents.

I have a Bjorn Arneson in my family tree born 1624 in Bagan, Norway. He was my GGGGGG-Grandfather. He had a son in 1652 in Bagan, Norway named Ole Bjornsen Oyhus.

I have researched the Brandval/Grue parishes of Hedmark fylke, Norway and there seems to be some confusion with the data you presented.

Arne Gudmundsen of Østre Berger, born 13 Feb 1810, baptized 25 Feb 1810 (parents Gudmund Gudmundsen and Marte Olsdatter), had no sons. With his wife Marte Larsdatter (married 1845, he from Berger, she Gullik from Vinger), he had 2 daughters: Anne Mari born 13 May 1845 Berger Østre and Maren born 6 Feb 1849 Østre Berger. Marte Larsdatter died 1852 and Arne did not remarry. He is found in the 1865 Brandval census with daughter Maren. If Arne Gudmundsen immigrated, it was after 1865.

The only Ole Arnesen I could find in the Grue/Brandval church film indexes with a birth year of 1862 was born 28 Jun 1862, baptized 20 Jul 1862 on Rolstadbråten (Brandval parish) to Arne Gudmundsen and Marte Olsdatter. His father, Arne Gudmundsen was born in 1824 on Rolstadsagen.

I'll take a look at Ole Arnesen's wife, Thea Randine Hokåsen born 28 May 1844, baptized 23 Jun 1844 whose parents were Ole Olsen and Ragnhild Eriksdatter and see if I can find out any information to straighten out the confusion.

I just found your reply to me - 8 years ago! I hope you still have access to the records where you found the information previously, and are still willing to share, since the information I have appears to be incorrect.

According to the 1900 Winneshiek County, IA, Arne Gudmundsen was born Feb.1808 and died at age 96 in Decorah, IA I also found that Arne Gudmundsen's son, Ole G.Arneson, was born in Feb.1842. Both were born in Norway. Thea Randine Hokass (Ole's wife) was born May, 1856 according to the census,showing her age as 44, but years married was shown as 44, which should have been 1844 and 56 years old.

Arne proved up his homestead in 1880, sold it to Ole in 1881 and move to Decorah where his son lived. I have the original deed to that property.

I would greatly appreciate anything you have on Arne, as I'm stuck. Thank you for the info on Thea!
