Unfortunately we know nothing beyond what I have already stated, no dates or other useful information.
There is an old family story about a sailor being put ashore due to a broken leg, which may relate to the Norway connection, and I agree the names if any are actually of Norwegian origin are probably anglicized.

Doing a quick check in/near Fredrikstad and port cities and anywhere in Norway there is no one with last name Healey in 1865 census which would indicate to me that they probably had already left Norway. Also in Norway it would be Hanna most likely and if they moved to Ireland it was probably Anglicized than to the Hannah that you have. I also checked Family Search and found no record of him between 1856-1860 so if he wasn't christened there it might be hard to find him, or his mother if she was indeed Norwegian or from Fredrikstad.

any clues as to Hannah' patronymic name? Lots of people said they came from Fredrikstad when in reality it was someplace nearby. Do you believe he was christened in the church and do you have a birth date or any sort of record of the date. Do you know Hannah's year of birth

Looking for anything to help find record of my Great Grandfather William Henry Healey who states on records here in New Zealand that he was born in Fredrikstad Norway.
He would have been born around 1858 and he said his father was a seaman or sea captain named Henry Ernest Healey, and that his mothers name was Hannah Ernestine.

We dont believe his father was Norweigen, possibly Irish. But Hannah may be Norweigen. William was apparently brought up in Ireland.

I am only going by what it said on the 1900 census I sent that said he was in Australia at the time of census and was a seaman (rather young only 15)

I have sent the marriage of Lovise & Elias the census with Lovise as a widow (1900) and also Ole Edvards christening from the kirke bok which is on line. Where is she getting her original information from ie the parents names and Ole's birth etc....

Peder was from Rakkestad born 1844 there is a farm name but cant make it out) it says she was born 1842 (they all over the map on her)
his father is Ole Kristiansen and her father is Elias Pedersen
Her range of birth would be 1842 (on marriage) to 1850 (1900 census and also the birth of Ole Edvard)
I am looking for her birth if find will send

a little young to be a seaman but perhaps he was a cabin boy or lied about age.
his father died sometime between birth of youngest daughter (born 1891) and this 1900 census

he did immigrate and his wife was Laura Margaret Larsen , She was born in Kodiak and Ole did too ,Ole died 1958
We do not know if Ole had siblings , His mom was Louise Elsadotter , we think . . They all came from Fredrikstad

Hi Jeff, - - -Thank you for all of your help. I entered Beathe Gulliksdatter from Skjeberg, Ostfold and up came Beathe Gulliksdatter Lose - married to John Lose - children Ludwig elive, Juie - and gustav. Evidently Beathe first married Jens Johnson from Freikshald - had children Jens (my gr. gr. grandfather), and Hans. Sometime later married John Larsen Lose - had children Ludwig, Elive Julie,and Gustav. They are all buried in Richland County, Wisconsin. Jens and Hans immigrated in about 1857, and the remainder in the 1860's. This all fits together and it was with your help mentioning Skjeberg, it enabled me to fit the pieces of the puzzle together. I am not sure whether the last three children were from Jens or from John Lose. Again thank you so much for your help. Ed Goplin

I am not sure if anyone has found this for you but I will add that I looked in the Halden Parish Record to see if he entered the Parish and hopes that it would give you an age. Well I found both. Jens Johnsen appears to have been 23 in 1835. Not sure where he came from. I could not read his entry very well. I did find Beate Gullickdatter's entry. It stated February 1835 and she was married to Jens. She was 21 years old and it appeared that she came from Skjeburg. That spelling may not be right but I know there is a Parish of similar spelling. I will try to send a copy and paste of the entries in a little while. Hope that helps. Jeff Jeppson

It's a bit of a stretch since this is sort of central Sweden not near the Norway border by Fredrikshald but it's a possibility

Given that John (aka Johannes Jensen) Immigrated in ca 1857 it might be a little difficult to find information about his family he was born 1836 as you mentioned and he kind of fell, as well as family, between census that are on line (1801 & 1865) Not knowing the birth place, dates or marriage place of Jens and Beate will make it a bit difficult to find information on them. Fredrikshald was more of a town vs farming area and there could be a book about the town and residents but I am not familiar with one. It is also possible that Beate and Jens came from Sweden as it is close to the border... I looked in 1801 census and found 1 Jens and not Beate (or any variations of spelling 1st and last name) and checked 1865 census but by that time both could have been deceased depending on the age when Beate gave birth to Jens. Regarding the brothers or possible brothers, Hans & Gustav, where does that info come from, were they older, younger?
Sorry not much help but he is going to be hard to trace in Norway (I did look in Fredrikshald for his confirmation and leaving records but didn't find him, could have overlooked)

John Johnson immigrated to the U.S. in about 1857. He was single, but later in the U.S. married Helene Bergum. They had several children all born in the U.S. He may have had siblings Hans and Gustav who immigrated somewhat later. His parents did not immigrate. I believe that John was born in Fredrikshold. His father Jens Johnson was a master book binder and his mother was Beate Guliksdatter who were living in Fredrikshold. John Johnson fought in the U.S. Civil war in 1862 and 1863. The parish records which were microfilmed some years ago have been digitized and put online for anyone's free use at the Digitalarkivet website. I'll give you more detailed info below.

You are likely looking for records that may not be included in that collection since they are so recent.

The Digitalarkivet web site has been adding scanned images of the original Norwegian parish church records for anyone with Internet access since November 2005.

For the protection of privacy, there are limits for how recent church records can be published:

- Birth and baptism records up to and including 1929
- Confirmation records up to and including 1934
- Marriage and banns records - no limits
- Civil marriage up to and including 1950
- Death, burial and stillbirth records up to and including 1930
- Migration records - no limits
- Joins and leavings of the State Church up to and including 1950
- Records about dissenters up to and including 1950

If you cross these limits while browsing a register or a list, you will not see the digitised image, but a message informing you that the image cannot be displayed.

Note: I do not have a record of their first child Anita Marie Waleur being born in Sweden, though. That is just what I was told: born 3 May 1940 in Strømstad, Sweden. (The other 4 children were born in Halden, Norway.)

I do not know where Borghild Marie was born, except that it was in Norway. I am pretty certain that Borghild and Reidar married in Halden around 1938 based on information my 3rd cousin (who lives in Halden) gave me. (Their first child was born in 1940--but in Sweden. Do you think they got married in Sweden, then went back to Halden? Perhaps Borghild was from Sweden, then moved to Halden after marrying Reidar? Hmm...waiting for a response from my 3rd cousin, but the time difference is large.) No, I have not looked in church books. Where do I find them?

Glemming (Fredrikstad), Østfold is a very long ways from Ålesund, Møre og Romsdal.

There is a farm called "Jendem" in Frænen parish, Møre og Romsdal.

I think it is safe to assume that Halvard and Aasta were married in Møre og Romsdal and probably resided at the farm Jendem for some time before relocating to Fredrikstad.

Do you have an idea when they were married?

Halvard Jendem was born 26 Apr 1908. He died 14 Oct 1988 and is buried in Kråkerøy cemetery in Fredrikstad. He is buried with his wife, Aasta. She was born 2 May 1908 and died 9 Mar 1998.
