Does someone have access to the bygdebok for Meraker area to do a look up?
I would like confirmation of the information that I have found in Stjordal parish records on my ancestors. Any information that you would have on these farms and the families who lived on them up until 1840 would be appreciated. It seems that there are so many variations of the Brende farm name, and I'm not sure if they are the same farm, or sub farms.
Father's Name: Halvor Brænde, Øverbrende, Øverbrenne, Øverbren,
His children:
Marit Halvorsdatter born 1749
Niels Halvorsen born 1751
Jon Halvorsen born 1760
Rollef Halvorsen 1769
(Possibly more children, but this is what I have found that seems to match)
Halvor Brænde's son, Rollef Halvorsen who was born in 1769, married Marit Olsdatter(born 1771) Marit is daughter of Ole Krogstad. I believe Krogstad (Kråkstad?)and Lille Krogstad and possibly Krogstad store are part of the same farm, which neighbors the Brende farm. .
According to the 1801 census for Meråker Annex, Stjørdalen Parish, Nordre Trondheim District, Rollef Halvorsen (34) lived on Brænde Øver gaard (farm). He was living with his wife, Marit Olsdatter (29) and children, Halvor Rollefsen (4) and Ole Rollefsen (2). Rollef was "Huusmand med jord" .
It appears that their boys died at young age and next two sons were also named Halvor (1802) and Ole (1805), another son, Niels was born 1807 and a daughter, Marit, in 1811. I believe that Marit and her mother both died in 1812 and that Rollef remarried later.
Rollef Halvorsen's son, Niels, who was born in 1807 married Marit Jensdatter. church record indicates she was from Krogstad and that they were living on lille Krogstad.
I believe that other family members were living on Kirkeby which is nearby.
