Surnames: Danielsen, Christophersen, Kristofersen, Jacobsen,Torgersen Baekk
Seeking information RE residents of VAAG Farm, Nesna, in mid-1800's -- Specifically Daniel Christophersen (Kristofersen) and his sons, daughters, Andreas Danielsen, Elias Danielsen. Ole Danielsen, Carsten K. M. Danielsen (aka Karsten Mork), Maren Danielsdatter, Anne E. Danielsdatter. Know that Daniel Kristofersen born in Alstadhaugs, Nordland about 1799, son of Christopher Jacobsen and Maren Danielsdatter -- Christopher was apparently son on Jacob Christophersen and Karen Johansdatter.

Daniel's first wife and mother of aboved-named children apparently was Mathilda Torgersen Baek, about whom we know nothing. Daniel's second wife may have been Anne N. Lange. Would like additional information. Understand that someone reportedly had traced family back to Austria several generations earlier, but I can find nothing earlier than Alstadhaugs.

Have some information about my ggrandfather Carsten (Danielsen) Mork, but seek information about brothers Ole and Elias Danielsen, both who traveled to US 15 April 1869 -- Carsten and his wife Emelie Olesdatter left Trondheim 1 July 1869 with sister Maren and her husband Peter Olai Iversen for US, using farm name "WAAG" (for VAAG) as their surnames, obviously to keep us on our toes.

Would appreciate any help.

Hi,
Are you familiar with this site?: http://www.slektsbiblioteket.com/english.htm
You'll find people there who own church books for Alstadhaug and Nesna and are willing to do lookups.
Wish you luck!
Svanhild

Thank you so much. I had seen the site once some time ago, but its importance didn't register. I have bookmarked it. It looks to have excellent potential, as I have much yet to do in NE Sweden and Denmark -- a full blown Scandinavian am I.

At the time I came across it, I was satisfied the available Census information would give me what I needed, but it is obvious that too many unanswered questions yet remain, and in the meantime, one of my original reference potentials passed on to the great beyond.

Thanks again.

Vaag Farm is on the Island and in the Parish of Donna. Both fall within the church district of the Parish of Nesna. For some years records were kept in Donna Parish, in other years the records were kept in Nesna Parish.

Donna has a rather odd shape but if you can locate it, Vaag or Vag (with an umlat above the a) is about two thirds of the distance from south to north.

Don't know whether you are still active after all this time but have just been researching some ancestors with Vaag roots and came across your message. There are no obvious ancestral connections.
