I recently found out that a Polish/Lithuanian relative of mine (ethnicity/nationality) had a middle name of Kumsavage. To me, this looks like an Americanized surname (maybe mother's maiden name?) that was used as his middle name. Would something like this be common practice in Lithuania in the late 1800s, to use a relative's surname as a middle name?
If this is a surname, is anyone familiar with it?
Note: This is cross-posted from Poland\Unknown. This relative was Polish, but was from a village just outside of Vilnius.
