My Grt Grandfather Johann Sommerfeld and His Wife Matilde ( nee Pede) Farmed near Goldingen from abot 1908 until abt 1933. Johann died in 1926 and Matilde in 1932. Three sons, Johann, Ludwig and Herman and their families left to com e to Canada in July 1929. Ludwig's wife Olga ( nee Berg) Family farmed next to the Sommerfelds. Ludwig and Olga were married in Hassenpott Jan 14 1920. One Son of Matilde ( Edmund)stayed behind to look after her when the rest of the family came to Canada. A daughter Pauline who was married to Emil Batke or Badke also stayed and some of her descendents may still be in Latvia. Edmund and his family left Latvia in abt 1935.
