Hello again,
I have found alot of information pertaining to your grandfather, Matti Sahinoja....It will be better to contact me privately, because, there is a procedure located at a genealogy site that I'll have to explain to you so that you can see the information yourself....it will be much better that way. My address is : finnmat@chartermi.net

Thank you for such a quick reply and the attachment. We are looking into what information we have (which is not much) and comparing it to what you gave us. We will keep you posted. Would you by any chance have anything on a Matti Sahinoja born 30 October 1871 in Alavus, Finland? He is our grandfather. We do not have much information on him or his family. We would greatly appreciate any information you can share with us.

Hello! I have found a Susanna Mursula who was born 1797, and died15.10.1869. However, the records I found show that she was married to someone else...and, they had a son with a different last name, he got married, and, their last names were Koivisto! You can see this by going to this address : www.vilppula.com/people/p000002c.htm#I53720 I have seen this before, when the names change, it's usually because the father was moving to different farms to work. You'll see that the village is Ranta - Töysä. Let me know what you think, and, if you want more help with this.

Forest Finns immigrating to New Sweden Delware

I am currently trying to track my Finnish heritage. According to my YDNA matches, my ancestors go back to Anders Pälsson Vaisinen b. abt 1610 in Finland. Possibly in the Central region. I have unconfirmed information that his father could be Päl Vaissinen b abt 1575 in Mälkilä village, Finland.
I do have a document showing Anders Pälsson Vaissinen living in Värmland, Sweden in 1654 with his wife, children, his father (not named) and one of his brothers (Knut Pälsson Vaissinen. All of his children were born in Värmland. My hope is to find the part of the Vaissinen family that immigrated to New Sweden, delaware, USA in the mid 160's.
Note: In Sweden the surname may have been spelled; Väisänen. I would be very grateful for any help in this research.
Cathy in Washington State,USA

Hello! Can I assume that you know when and where he was born? If not, I have found a Karl Theodor, born 8.11.1872, to Henrik Turenius and Amanda Frang in Ikaalinen. Is this your ancestor?

Died in 1918 in Tampere, Finland during civil war. He was arrested and died in prison, probably caught the Spanish Flu (during epidemic of 1918). Left a wife and young children. I think he worked in a leather tanning business there. He was a religious man, Lutheran, probably a church goer.

He was my grandfather (mother). Would appreciate any information. Can't speak Finnish, so hard to research this on my own.

Hello! I've been going over old messages, and, I did find that your 3rd great grandfather did die on 29.12.1808, however, he was 47 years old at the time, which would have made his birthyear 1761, instead of 1798 like you have listed...unfortunately the births are not listed for 1761, they begin at 1794....I have looked at other sites, but, there are no Johan Heikinpoika Krats listed for that year anywhere. If you already know this, please disregard this message, because, it's been such a long time since you posted your message.

I am having difficulty finding any history for ancestors of my 3rd greatgrandfather Johan Heikinpoika Krats. He was born in 1798, and died on December 29, 1808 in Saarijarvi, Kiimasjarvi, Kyyra, Finland. If anyone has this name in their history or if you can suggest a genealogist who can help, please contact me. Also, I have been unable to make a genealogical connection to the Krats families presently living in the Saarijarvi area. Can anyone help?
Kivijarvi Help - Korkiakangas

I am looking for the parents of these siblings that were born in Kivijarvi (according to their obits): Ida Juliana Korkiakangas born May 1873 (married to Adam Vepsala), Lydia born November 8, 1887, Hilma (birth unknown), Maria (birth unknown), John (birth unknown). Ida and Lydia emigrated to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the early 1900's. Ida went by the name "Maki" but her obituary listed brother John Korkiakangas. Someone listed possible parents as Erkki Korkiakangas born 1846 and Wilhelmina Liimatainen born 1848 but I can't find any records when I do a search but I am very much a beginner at this Finnish search. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kim
