I have some finnish bank papers from 1882 from a friend's family. While I cant translate much, it seems that my friend's ancestor loaned someone 18,000 markkas (old finska markkas).
Does anyone here have a clue as how much that is? In 1880's Finland, does 18,000 markkas buy you a cup of coffee, or a house? I am just curious as to value of the money, and if it was significant back then.
Thanks for any help!
