Sigurd's birth is recorded in the church register for Vejle amt, Brusk herred, Øster Starup sogn, births 1847-1886 opslag 99, on 14 May 1872. At the christening of his nephew on 6 November 1909 he was described (in translation) as ‘of Fagerhult, Skibby parish, Hornsherred in Frederiksborg County’. A note in his mother's hymn-book states: "Sigurd gift 11 Debr 1903 i Matheus Kirke i ...", but unfortunately the place where he married is illegible, and his wife's name is not noted. The same source suggests that he and his wife had two children, Kaj and Caja.
