Hi, Penny,
My name is Bruce Colin Cameron.
My father (deceased) is Evan Percival Winton Cameron, son of Alexander Donald Cameron.
I know only a few stories about Alexander because my father told me little. In 1958 (I think), as a young boy, aged about 9, I met him for the last time as he lay dying in a hospital bed in Sydney. We were visiting Sydney from Tasmania at the time.
When I was three or four years old, he had stayed with us at Picton in New South Wales. I still have memories of him walking to the dairy with a pail to buy fresh cows milk.
Dad told stories about the business his father ran in Tonga, a kind of trading business where he paid the native Tongans with currency he minted himself which they could only spend in his shop. Dad worked in that shop for a while.
Apparently he bought copra produced locally, exported it to England, and imported goods to sell in his shop.
Dad often spoke of his sister, Truda. It was she who introduced Dad to my mother while he was in hospital at Royal North Shore Hospital, St Leonards, New South Wales. I met Truda once about 1976. Her daughter was named Kelela.
I've probably got quite a bit more info to offer as I think of it.
You can contact me by email: bccameron at gmail dot com
Regards, Bruce cameron

Hi Penny
I know this message is years old and sorry to trouble you after all this time but Alexander Donald Cameron's grandfather (Roderick) was a brother of my great grandfather and I would be really interested to know if you have any information that would be helpful to me. I notice you say you have information on both descendants and ancestors of Alexander Donald and would be particularly interested in anything you may have on Roderick, his wives, his sons, etc. Christine

Dear Catriona,
I am married to Henry Marshall Dalton (born 1937) the fourth of six sons of Dorothy Evelyn Cameron and Charles Edward Dalton. Henry's mother was known as Evelyn. Henry now has the bible of Clara Cameron (nee Cocker). Inside the front cover is a list of Clara and Alexander's children, with the date and place of birth of each child. Your father, Alexander Donald Cameron, is listed as being born in Nuku'alofa on 11/9/1915. Copy of list attached, also photo of Evelyn and her mother, Clara c1937. Henry remembers your father as "Uncle Don". We would appreciate it if you are able to scan the marriage certificate of Clara and email it to us at hm_dalton@hotmail.com
Regards, Helen.

My great grandmother was a violet C Tupou Cocker. She was close friends with Queen Salote and went for the queens coronation. The Cockers and the connection to tonga, Australia(of which there is a cocker st) & Tasmania is that three of four brothers(yorkshire bankers) set sail across to explore, etc. I am from the Joshua Line, Joshua went to Tonga and stayed, his brother Willy Cocker went to Tasmania and never returned, nothing else is known. He was presumed dead but no one knows. My great grandmother Violets mother was called Alice Cocker, she met and fell in love with a native Tongan while in Aukland at The Kings College and I believe Violets grandmother on her fathers side was the shaman of the tribe of tupuo. Does this sound of any use?

Where do you trace your Daltons from? Are any in America, if so, which part of America?
