hey there....it's interesting that you mentioned Queen Salamasina. I happened to be a descendant of both Queen Salamasina and Alipate & Taiana Tu'ipelehake. I'm a descendant of Queen Salamasina on my mother's side and from my records, she was indeed the daughter of Tuia'ana Taimalelagi and Vaitoe'ifaga who was from Tonga, but had Samoan & Fijian blood as well. Queen Salamasina was the first queen of Samoa that held the 4 main royal titles in Samoa that ruled the whole of Samoa. According to Samoan history, each district back in the stone age, had their own leader they called their king, but as Salamasina was the eldest of Tuia'ana Taimalelagi's kids, she was the heir to the title Tuia'ana who succeeded her father after his death.
My connection is through the branch of Kiata Tu'ipelehake who was the younger brother of Saimasina. Kiata had 2 children that I know of....a son name Talitau who bore the 'Tapusoa' title and a daughter name Sefilina, who happened to be my father's mother.
It's very interesting reading what everyone has written on here and learning about the different branches of the Tu'ipelehake there are out there. Well, hope to see & learn more about the rest of the family that are still out there. May God bless all of our relatives scattered around the different corners of the world. I hope to meet as many of you if not all of you before I leave this earth, but then I'm sure....even if we don't meet in this lifetime, I'll know you all when we get to the other side of the veil huh? :-) Take care of yourselves and your loved ones.
much alofas,
from the Sunshine State of Australia. :)
