Manaia you are amazing! I can't believe how adept you are at researching Samoan genealogy. The Samoan penchant for using the same names and nicknames threw me for a loop at first. I have read basic Samoan history to try and understand the dates and events which would bring Aso to Samoa. Thanks to you I understand the AH Surname fiasco. I am a member of RW Samoa, I think, that is I mean to say I do receive numerous e-mail postings from Samoa Digest. I almost know nothing about Chinese-Samoan gafa, except basic history. Worse I live in California, USA and am separated from the elders who might be able to help. My wife's father (Ma'a Tanuvasa Chou Lee) was the last Pulenu'u of Vaipuna, W. Samoa as far as we know and he died in 1969. Sadly we do not have the original name in the Chinese Characters. I don't even know when Aso arrived in Samoa. Aso would have arrived prior to 1920 which was when my wife's dad was born. If I had the Chinese Characters for Aso Chou Lee I would have to scan them to computer in order to send it to you anyway- Sorry! What does Abt 1928 mean? Does this mean "about 1928"? Thank you so very much for the help!
