Does anyone know how I can find when an ancestor went to Norfolk island. I know he lived in New Zealand in 1914, but went to Norfolk island and died in Queensland in 1950.

If this is him, he was in NZ during ww1
Surname WHITE
Given Name St John Aubrey
Category Second Reserves
Last NZ Address Benbow Terrace Rona Bay Wellington
Occupation Clerk
Classification B

You could check the Eastbourne/Rona Bay electoral rolls to see when the last entry was.

Do you think he went to Australia first? As far as I know shipping to Norfolk Island from NZ was pretty rare.
The shipping lists from Sydney are available on a couple of websites-
OZships, http://www.blaxland.com/ozships/page.htm

and Mariners & ships in Australian Waters
http://mariners.records.nsw.gov.au/search.htm

On Archway there is an entry for probate for Arthur St John White in 1986, at Archives NZ Auckland
BAZZ 1570 Box3928 2347/1986
but they are closed at the moment for 6 months as they are moving to a new building in Mangere

Thank you,
We ahve tracked him from UK to Australia, then australia to Nelson NZ. HE married in Nelson and had a child. I had teh Wellington address and recently found out, it is thought he went to Norfolk island. he died in Redcliffes, Queensland in 1950. Just trying to track down anyway we can track years ( if and when) he went back to australia of norfolk isalnd.

Thanks for the help.

St Aubrey White went to Norfolk Island with his son Nelson and family in 1931. Nelson and wife Sybil went to Australia in 1939/40 leaving daughter Leslie with her grandparents. Leslie left Norfolk Island in 1941 and travelled to Brisbane to be with Nelson and Sybil. St John and Ada left Norfolk Island in 1945 (when Sybil passed away) for Brisbane, Queensland
