Hi All,

I am looking for any information regarding James Maxton and his parents from Wellington New Zealand.

James, according to his NSW Police Service Record, was born in Wellington New Zealand during 1856 or his birth may have been between 1854 and 1856.

James is my Great Grandfather, he married Mary Anne MacLennan on 17 April 1884 at Wilcannia NSW. The witness to their marriage were Isabella McLennan and Edmond D'arcy.

James and Mary Ann had 4 possibly five children. They may have had a son between 1884 and 1888 but he must have died before April 1888.

Emily J Maxton born c1886 at Wilcannia;
Maud Elizabeth born 24 April 1888 at Wilcannia (Maud is my Grandmother, she married Edward Arnold (Arn) OLDS);
James B.A. Maxton born c1890 at Broken Hill NSW
Clarence G, Maxton born c1899 at Broken Hill.

Whilst in Wilcannia, James was in the NSW Police force, he was a Constable First class when he resigned and moved to Broken Hill. James and Mary Ann owned the Newsagency in Paton Street, South Broken Hill.

Any help with information about this branch of the Maxton family from Wellington New Zealand, would be greatly appreciated.

Regards, John
