I am seeking information about a family, surname Grady, believed to have immigated to Wellington, New Zealand about 1880 from Aston, Birmingham. It is believed a Francis Frederick Grady ran a jewelery bussiness in Willis Street, Wellington, from about 1880 to 1922. A son Francis Frederick Grady born 1870 specialsed in engraving silver products, and a younger son believed to be Henry Shaw Grady specialized in watch making.
It is aid that the son married an "Ethyl" who was an artist that did several paintings of St Paul's in Wellington. Has anyone any knowledge of Ethyl or her paintings? Has anyoneany knowledge of what happened to Henry Shaw Grady after 1922 when we lost track of his activities? Did he ever marry? How would one go about seeking information on his death or marriage? I am used to genealogicsl research in the UK where there is the advantage now of many census returns from 1841 to 1901.
