John Alexander Moore was the son of Daniel Moore, a Yorkshireman who sailed on the Martha Ridgeway. He was a storekeeper on Bridge St, and John attended Nelson College and worked in his father's store.
Cathedral Inn owners Neville and Sally Bennett said they had looked into the history of the house when they bought it, but having a group of living descendants visiting was something special.
