I am completely stuck trying to discover what happened to JAMES BALLANTYNE and his wife ANN nee CARROLL and wondered if they had connections in NZ....??

I know they were in Tasmania 1864-1866.
THey had 2 children I know of- Henry born 1862, and Annie Maria born 1864.
James was a Sailor/ sailmaker, and later a publican of the Man of Ross in Hobart.

Both children were being supported by the government in 1867, and both eventually ended up in Melbourne Victoria, but I cannot find any trae of their parents.....

Does anyone recognise this story or the names?? It was suggested to me there is a large Ballantyne clan in NZ, and I thought perhaps that was where James and Ann went??

Any help or suggestions would be wonderful- I am completely stuck....
