Hey Sue, I noticed that you stated that you are a direct descendant of Harriet Eliza Bradley. Harriet's first husband was Thomas Willis Cooper. Are you a descendant of Thomas's as well? Thomas abandoned Harriet and their children. I have an ancestor who was also named Thomas Willis Cooper, and I believe he also abandoned my ancestor (his wife) Mary Ann Butler. I am wondering if both Thomas Willis Cooper (husband of Harriet Eliza Bradley) and Thomas Willis Cooper (husband of Mary Ann Butler) were the same man? My great great great great grandfather Thomas Willis Cooper was born on the 1st of August 1846, in Kissing Point, NSW, Australia, to Thomas Willis Cooper (a convict, who was murdered on the 20th of November 1847) and his wife Margaret O'Brien (a convict). Thomas married my great great great great grandmother Mary Ann Butler on the 1st of September 1868 at the Free Church of England at 41 Burton Street, Sydney, NSW. I believe your ancestor Harriet also married a Thomas Willis Cooper in 1868, and they had children together at similar times to my ancestors who had Mary Elizabeth Jane Cooper in 1869, Thomas Henry Cooper in 1871, Ambrose Arthur Cooper in 1873, and Ernest George Cooper in 1876. Do you think it is possible that Thomas could have travelled back and forth between Sydney and New Zealand to father children to two different wives before deserting both families?
