I was reading your message and the name Waihape caught my attention. My koro Tau Takahi left Mohaka many years ago. My family have always been interested in finding out our connection. The only connection Ive got is my koro Tau Takahi father was Arapata Takahi and his wife was Ngakatakota Waihape. Would be great to hear from you if you know of my kuia Ngakatakota Waihape.

I was told that Waihape whanau orignated from Putere. Papa said his great grandfather had strong tuhoe connections as well as lines to Mohaka. Kaaho, Nanny Alices line, Gilbert, Gray are some of the families i can remember him saying. You can give it a go.
