Have been stuck on this for ages (my ggrandparents & family). Anyone any knowledge of, (or able to look up? Electoral rolls, Cencus returns, or similar, please), for any evidence of the following: prior to 1885?. (after then, they resided in Australia). I have unsuccessfully checked the BDM index, & Rootsweb surnames. Any other suggestions?
Moses (or Henry John, or Harry) Rees originally from Glouceshire Eng, unknown length of time in NZ. Supposedly 2nd marriage (1879-1881? Aukland) to Maria Sophia (or sometimes Hannah) Carr (nee Gardner?), who had been married to John Carr, (in London Toronto Canada abt 1863 at age 17) & had spent 20yrs in NZ.
Children from Marias 1st marriage were Maria abt.1869, Margaret abt.1876 (+ 2 males 1 female deceased) Both these girls were alive in 1908, & probably lived in NZ.
Children born in NZ to Moses & Maria were Walter 1881? & Edith 1882? (others were born in NSW)
