Hi I have a query with regard to Electoral Rolls in the late 1800's. One of my Ancestors was called Joseph Terrill and he lived in Tikorangi, Taranaki. When researching I seem to have found a couple of different entries for each electoral year. Although he had a son of the same name I don't think the second entry refers to him. Was it usual that some one who owned two properties in different electorates were listed twice for the same electoral year? Or with the two entries does that mean there were two people of the same name? e.g.
Entry on the 1870/1871 Roll District Grey and Bell , Taranaki
Name Joseph Terrill
Place of Abode Tikorangi
Place of property situated Tikorangi 42/43 Tikorangi Township 94
Entry on the 1870/1871 Roll District Egmont, Taranaki
Name Joseph Terrill
Place of Abode Tikorangi
Place of property situated Omata 128 part
Please note the name of the Tree I am working with is McKoy.
Thanks a lot
Matthew
